Opening nite at SAM ......Nick Cave has invaded the museum with his "Sound Suits"!Dancers wearing the artists creations wildly circulated through the giant entrance hall engaging everyone to join in the fun.The exhibit is one to see! Rooms full of marauding "people" in beautifully executed "suits" ........each feel alive, like they will move and join you on your tour. Awesome!

I think it is Spring in Sequim!  We have Spring rain,  rainbows,

 sunshine, and flowers! And the temperature is in the 50's!

I had a lovely weekend at the "INN AT THE MARKET".......and the opera,dinner at Daniel's and attended a seminar at Nordstroms. Took LOTS of shots at the market for a hotel project.

I participated in a "Salon" at the Rose Theater in Port Townsend after I saw the charming animated movie "The Illusionist"....a screenplay written by Jacque Tati and film by Sylvain Chomet. Brought back wonderful memories of "Mr. Hulot's Holiday".

My studio is all dressed in snow!! Beautiful.....but it all turned to ice--on the road, the trees and my driveway. What an adventure!!!

This morning I had breakfast at "Macrina Bakery and Cafe" in Seattle.....voted one of the top 10 bakeries in "America" I had a "Bialy" with fried egg, bacon, tomato, fresh basil...........and a double shot latte.......great start for the weekend.

Having a great time in Seattle. Staying at a wonderful hotel "The Inn At The Market".....beautiful hotel . Doing an all day photo shoot at the Pike Place Market and some of downtown. I visited the Bubble Gum wall at the Pike Place Market....go see it if you can. Looking out from my window at the Inn......Puget Sound looks beautiful today.

I think it's spring!!! Went to opening night of the Northwest Flower and Garden show.....one of the best shows yet!!........It was snowing outside, but for me inside....the flowers of spring.

A new sandwich shop has opened in Sequim, "The Garden Bistro"..........the best BLT ever!!........crispy bacon, tomato, iceberg lettuce, mayo on buttered Pane D'Amore Bakery's; Grandma's White Bread. Thanks John and David for enriching our community!!

Dinner out at Ajax

Had a fabulous time at a wine tasting and a 5 course dinner at the "Ajax Cafe" in Hadlock, WA. Fun with the winemaker as he talked about his "Naked Winery" in Hood River, Oregon.

Chef Jon Luzadder presented a variety of seafood pastas, meat dishes and elegant desserts........the squash and pear soups were awesome................Marc, Christi, Jeannine and I had a tremendous amount of FUN!!.........Rudy too!! Thank you Ajax.

Had a wonderful dinner with friends, Christie and Marc, at my home last night. We dined on Maria's baked chicken with black beans and rice...........accompanied by a bottle of red wine that Marc selected..........finished off with a lemon souffle' and "Patron xo Cafe". Christie and Marc have so graciously allowed me to showcase some of my Valentine's Day greeting cards at their bird store "Wild Birds Unlimited". Please stop by their store.

Our Daily Walks

I whisked by my January Birthday in Phoenix, Arizona.......loved the Camelback Inn.......and brunch with friends. Now back home with daily walks with Rudy, my Wheaten Terrier..........we walk thru the forrest......up and down mossy covered trails that run alongside of the cliff........going down to the water of Sequim Bay.......great view of Mt. Anderson in the Olympic Mtns.:.....full of fresh snow. Then back up to meditate at our secret spot......( Rudy meditates too )........then we finally reach the studio, where I paint my "Morning Aria's"............and so the day begins.

We have just sold several paintings and framed photographs to a dentist office in Port Townsend,WA. The pictures really liven up the office and allow the patients to look at something that is beautiful and calming. here are just three of the many we put up.

Just returned from Gilbert Arizona, visiting with my friends ...celebrating my birthday and finishing Xmas ...James kept the Xmas decorations up for us to see ......Santas and decorated trees all thru the house.....about 60 of them. WOW what a house!!!

Yesterday with Rudy

Yesterday at "The Buzz" a coffee house in Sequim.........I parked next to a car with two Wheaten Terriers inside. Rudy and I went inside the The Buzz to get a latte' and ice cream ( burgundy cherry for me and apple pie for Rudy ), he just loves ice cream. Whenever I drive up to The Buzz.....Rudy knows it is time for ice cream..........We found the lady who owned the two Wheatens in the car and had a fabulous conversation about our Wheatens. She had just moved to Sequim and was looking for a groomer........she commented to me that she thought Rudy looked very handsome. Rudy goes to "Country Paws". They always do a very good job on Rudy's coat.

Wayne Gretzky, one of Canada's greatest hockey players......turned 50 today and is an Aquarian. He had the amazing ability when in a game, to project the play in his mind, so it would go that way on the ice as the game played out. Intuition some would say........That is the same way I paint........ with intuition...... watching the painting take shape... as the paint is being played out.........brush strokes at a time............ like a play on the canvas.

A Sumptuous Saturday and Sunday

Went to Seattle on Saturday to see the Seattle Opera Company perform The Barber of Seville. Lawrence Brownlee was the Count and performed the final aria.....the best we ever heard.........late night wrap-up by Speight Jenkins..........afterwards we went to Tom Douglas's place "Palace Kitchen", we enjoyed a late night burger and a piece of his famous coconut cream pie, washed down with champagne...........earlier in the day we went to Shuckers for oysters and then on to the Daily Grill for filet mignon and awesome potatoes. On Sunday we went to another of Tom's resturant's "Lola's" to have a fabulous breakfast of hot minature donuts with mascapone and pear butter.....eggs benedict.......with the best hickory smoked sausages I have ever had............Not going to eat for a week, but I am going to paint.

He was giving a talk on astrology for the new year. His website is www.reflecting pond.com He spoke at the Madrona mind-body Institute in Fort Worden, Port Townsend ,Washington...... before that we went to Waterfront Pizza for quick salad and a slice of pizza.... best pizza this sde of chicago!! I was with my cool friend Mariah Doty. We had lots of things to talk about......especially her new project she's doing.......... more about that later. Spent this morning in my studio formulating new designs for my artwork. It's Thursday and Thursdays are always play day....... got my red keds on....... Rudy is ready and we are going to play.......take the day away from the studio to refresh my brain and refresh my eye. Maybe we will meet with friends or maybe we will just be out by ourselves.Today is a perfect day off. It's cool...... might be sunny. Last night's full moon over Sequim Bay was awesome.

Oysters

We are reading a book on the "oyster"......... for book group...... our meeting is tomorrow at a restaurant. We are down to three members : Geri, Sally, Sandy and we'll discuss enjoying the pleasures and the romance of the oyster, in the book " Consider the oyster" written by MFK Fisher. Counting the oysters I've eaten in my life ...........I just added it all up ....I think probably something like 12 -15,000 which is considerable amount of oysters. I LIKE OYSTERS....... just on the half shell, fresh with their briny flavor, the chill of the water,; but I also like oyster stew and oyster loaf. Going to Port Townsend today to the photo and art installation I did and I will photograph the installation and put it on my blog later this afternoon.

Weekend Travels

After a cold and rainy weekend in Portland, Oregon..... Sunday morning....went to St. Honore' bakery in Lake Oswego for a lovely breakfast of a latte' and croissants...the best I have had in a long time. I then drove to my home in Sequim, WA........with a Croque Madame to eat on the road and my Wheaten terrier riding shotgun. Arrived in Sequim to beautiful sunshine....went for a lovely walk on the beach and did a little work in my studio.
